Mint protein shake

This is a creation I came up with when I was weaning myself off of chocolate shakes – it is easy and refreshing. It also is a great way to incorporate vitamin and mineral rich dates into your diet.

Following Medical Medium’s approach to health can yield absolutely fantastic results if you’re dealing with certain conditions (reversing dependency on meds, increasing energy tremendously!) however, if you are in a building phase of your life where you are working your hinny off, it doesn’t always seem to work as he advocates around 10% of food intake be protein. If you are like me and seem to need more than that, this is a low fat way of bringing in lots of protein.

Rudolf Steiner’s work on nutrition aligns with the need for protein when the soul is doing active work and needs to perceive their body. It helps to build structures, and can be very grounding when you’re in this phase of life.

Whatever your views on nutrition and spirituality, if you’re looking for a high protein treat that’s low fat and free of refined sugar, try this – you might find yourself coming back for more too. Enjoy!

Mint protein shake

A sugar free peppermint protein shake – it's pretty darn good if you feel the need to add some protein to your diet. It also sneaks in some dates, which are fantastic for your health, especially if you are trying to conceive.

Course: Breakfast, Side Dish, Snack
Cuisine: American
Keyword: dates, high protein treat, mint, peppermint, protein powder, smoothie
Servings: 1 tall glass

Equipment

  • 1 blender – a high powered blender is awesome for this smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop raw protein powder organic
  • 1 Tbsp dried mint
  • 12 dates (deglet) organic
  • 2 c water filtered

Instructions

  • Throw everything in your blender and blend on high til smooth. Pour and enjoy!

Notes

If you don’t have a high-speed blender, be sure to soak your dates overnight so they are soft.  I started keeping a supply of these in the fridge to add to smoothies and oatmeal – you don’t have to blend as long this way so it stays colder which is a nice bonus too 🙂
