Raspberry Banana Dessert Smoothie

This is a quick and delicious smoothie for little and big ones alike! The color is fun too - I like to let the berry pink shine through and save the greens for another smoothie so it doesn't turn dark.

Equipment

  • 1 high speed blender

Ingredients

  • 4 large ripe bananas the spottier the better for sweetness and creaminess (if they're a bit green you'll need extra dates and water to compensate)
  • approximately 400 g frozen raspberries gives that bright tartness and thick, icy texture
  • 3 fresh dates or dried Medjool dates — pit them first; use 4 if you want it even sweeter
  • About 2 cups water a little less keeps it sweet and thick; add a bit more and blitz your smoothie for a couple seconds if it isn't pourable!

Instructions

  • Peel the bananas and break them into chunks.
  • Pit the dates.
  • Add everything to a high-speed blender: bananas, frozen raspberries, dates, and water.
  • Blend on high until super smooth and creamy (30–60 seconds usually does it). Scrape down the sides if needed and add a splash more water if it’s too thick.
  • Pour into glasses (or fun kid cups!) and enjoy right away while it’s cold and frosty. If for some reason you wind up with leftovers, pour them into a popsicle mold and save them for later!

Notes

If your kiddo wants to help out, they can put everything into the blender (or take turns with siblings!). If they're big enough, they can peel the bananas or take the pits out of the dates. Usually when they help, I find they like to sample everything. Either way, it's getting good nutrition into them!
